Mariet Hefting

Dr. ir. Mariet M. Hefting was active as a TBI team member between 2013-2021 but still engaged in TBI work. She is an assistant Professor in the Ecology & Biodiversity Group, Department of Biology at Utrecht University, The Netherlands. The research group Ecology and Biodiversity investigates the ecological mechanisms that regulate biodiversity and the ecosystem services provided by living communities in interaction with atmosphere, water and soil. Mariet has a PhD in soil ecology. Her research interest focuses on the interactions between plants and soil in the context of cycles of carbon and nitrogen and the response of soil ecosystems to multiple global change drivers.
